Bakkhali Beach

Bakkhali Beach is a serene coastal stretch in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India. Located about 130 kilometers from Kolkata on the fringes of the Sundarbans delta, it is celebrated for its crescent-shaped shoreline, tranquil atmosphere, and sweeping views of both sunrise and sunset over the Bay of Bengal.

Bakkhali lies on one of the deltaic islands of southern Bengal, where the land tapers into the Bay of Bengal. The beach’s fine white-to-golden sand is bordered by casuarina and mangrove groves, creating a distinct ecological setting. The gentle gradient of the shore and calm surf make it ideal for walking, cycling, or even light vehicle rides. Unlike heavily commercialized beaches, Bakkhali retains an unspoiled, rustic charm with limited but growing tourism facilities.
